S-2 CONSTRUCTION becomes Independent Dealer of Barden Building Systems |
|
|
| |
|
Bedford, PA and Middleport, NY; March 19, 2009: S-2 CONSTRUCTION, a division of Szanca Solutions, Inc. headquartered in Bedford, PA is pleased to announce that it is now an Authorized Independent Dealer of “Barden Building Systems”, a home construction method developed by the Barden & Robeson Company of Middleport, NY, the largest manufacturer of panelized homes in the northeastern United States.
When asked about the significance of becoming and Authorized Independent Barden Dealer, Mark Szanca, the President & CEO of Szanca Solutions and S-2 Construction, had this to say, “It gives us the ability to bring this superior home building system to the residents here in Bedford County. These are not modular homes. The Barden System is, for all intents and purposes, the good ol’ traditional stick-built construction method that everyone associates with strong, well built homes, but the walls (they call them ‘panels’) are constructed under factory conditions with exceptional quality control processes. There aren’t any ‘missed-the-stud’ nails; every 2x4 is perfectly set and nailed and when we say that it is built with 16” centers, that means exactly 16”, not 15” or 17”, and that’s just one example of the exceptional quality that this system brings to our home construction efforts. Another benefit is that it speeds up the construction process exponentially. It really is an amazing process that has to be seen to be fully appreciated. Once the foundation is in place, the panels arrive and our crew can get the walls up, the roof and shingles on, and the home sealed against the elements in less than a week. Once under roof, things get even faster. Because the panels are made in the factory using standardized plans and templates, the walls come pre-drilled for the electrical and plumbing. This means eliminating time measuring and drilling holes in the studs. How’s that for efficiency?! I could go on, but let me close with one last thought: Our Company has been built on a reputation of producing a quality product. The marriage of our company with Barden Building Systems will bring a quality, efficient home building process to the residents of Bedford County.”
About Barden and Robeson Company
Barden & Robeson is celebrating their 100 year anniversary. In 1909 the company began building spokes and hubs for wagon wheels, and then came bushel baskets and baby furniture. During WWII, they made ammo cases and at the conclusion of the war began their pre-engineered / panelized construction process to meet the demands of the post-war home construction boom. Over the past 60+ years, Barden & Robeson has continued to refine and improve the Barden Building System process to achieve the quality standards that they bring to the marketplace today. Just this year, they have expanded their expertise to include log homes under their Barden Log Systems process.

When I started this company back in 2003, I had hoped that one day we’d have a government contract that really made a difference for the future of the planet, so it is especially satisfying to now be able to continue the work that our military services and diplomatic corps have so valiantly given their all. I know that this contract will not be a walk in the park and that there are yet many dangers to be faced throughout Iraq, but it is a measure of the dedication of our employees that we pursued this contract in the first place and are committed to the successful performance of the contract in support of our diplomatic corps.”

Congressman Bill Shuster recently announced that he has been successful in securing $42 million in federal funding for defense and military construction related projects in the 9th district. “The 9th district has long been associated with helping our military keep up with the demands of protecting our nation,” Shuster said. “The projects I secured this year continue that tradition of service.”
The US Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) was provided $800,000 of the Congressional funding to continue efforts to improve their fire support technology. As a result of the outstanding work performed by Szanca Solution’s Federal Services and Solutions Division, the Army in turn tasked Szanca to integrate state of the art voice recognition technology into their legacy fire support systems. This task is another example of Szanca working closely with our customers to provide our Warfighter’s with the best tools available.
